What I ended up doing today.
From one single tweet, I learned that the Buried Life boys were in town. I told Cory that I wanted to take a trip to see them; however, work prevented me from seeing their speaking engagement at 7pm. I am a firm believer in getting your cake and eating it too, so on a whim, I put $30 gas in my car, dragged Cory along, and popped in some good tuneage for our micro-mini roadtrip to Northern Illinois University where I knew I would find the boys and Penelope.
After scouring for about an hour, Cory and I got bored, so we decided to entertain ourselves by playing the elevator game and walking around campus. We really wanted to go to the sky deck at the Duke Ellington Center, but found that it was locked. After moseying around for a while, we took a seat at a cafe table and talked for a little while. I told him the story about how my parents met and my dad’s famous first words “What is till?” My eye caught a glimpse of Dave first. In disbelief, Johnny passed by next, followed by Ben and Duncan. Johnny and Dave looked absolutely exhausted, and just passed right by us. Ben and Duncan however, were absolutely everything I imagined them to be. Now, I have had my fair share of meeting douschebag celebrities in my life, but these guys were the nicest and most authentic people I have ever met. So glad I drove the fifty miles to meet them.
